In 1959, the University College of Physical Education - Bangalore University, Bengaluru (formerly known as Government College of Physical Education) was established by the Government of Karnataka. Later in 1968, the college was get affiliated to the Bangalore University, Bengaluru.
At present, the college offers the courses under the recognition and approval of National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Bengaluru.
The main aim of the college is determined to provide the quality education to the aspirants. With the correct mix of technology and human touch.
As per the norms and conditions of NCTE, Diploma course was upgraded to Bachelor degree in Physical Education (B.P.Ed) course in 1971.
In 1972, Postgraduate degree in Physical Education (M.P.Ed) was started. The Government College of Physical Education was transferred to Bangalore University in the year 1976.
After the college is an integral part of Bangalore University. The Ph.D. course was started to take up quality research, publication, & curricular activities in the field of Physical Fitness and Education domains.
Admissions here strictly based on the norms and conditions of Bangalore University and NCTE, Bengaluru.
